Healthy Workplace Challenge
Physical Activity and Health
Physical activity is essential for good health and contributes to positive well-being. Many of the leading causes of disease and disability - such as coronary heart disease, strokes and type 2 diabetes - are associated with physical inactivity.
Just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on 5 or more days of the week can help. Moderate intensity activity will make you breathe more quickly and make you feel warmer than usual but you will still be able to maintain a conversation.
As we increasingly live busier and busier lives we now find it more difficult to look after our well-being, including physical activity, diet and health.
Aim and Layout of Challenge
The aim is to help you increase your activity levels, improve diet and to aid overall wellbeing.
Each month will have a key theme that stems around improving mental health, physical activity levels or nutritional habits.
Powerpoint workshops will be provided at the start of each month.
Each month will have a physical activity challenge and a nutritional challenge for teams and individuals from which they can gain points.
The monthly themes are ordered depending on relevant topics for the time of year or coordination with other health campaigns.
