Talented Athletes Support Programme

We are keen to ensure that our community are able to fulfil their potential, through the Sport Reading Partnership we have been add to support a number of local opportunities to help talented athletes to all ages reach their potential.

Reading Sports Aid Trust: Provides cash grants of between £50-£300 for talent athletes of all ages.  If you are interested in applying please download your application here.

Sport Reading Futures Programme:  The scheme provides sports people at a National Level with free access to training facilities within specific leisure facilities in Reading. In you are interested in applying please download your application here.

In addition to local opportunities there are also these national programmes

National Sports Aid
Sports Aid give grants to young people (12 - 18 years old) who are members of national squads from 55 able bodied and 25 disabled sports. Applications for this funding must be made through the appropriate governing body.

Grants are distributed to help with costs of travel, training or equipment and range from £250 to £500. Listed below are those sports which Sports Aid fund. NB. Some have more than one discipline e.g. Skating includes figure and ice.

GLL Sport Foundation

GLL Sport Foundation was set up to offer financial and training grants to help the next generation of athletes.

GLL give financial grant to young athletes, who live, go to school, have a training base or belongs to a Sports Club based in partner Boroughs such as Reading.

The successful applicants will be awarded between £250 to £2000 to help with the costs of training, competition, coaching and can be used to offset costs of: equipment, travel, accommodation, competition fees, coaching fees, or others similar expenditure in chosen sport.

In 2009 GLL Sport Foundation will work in partnership with Sports Aid to maximise the support that can be given to young sporting talent.

The applications for 2009 funding are now available and the deadline is 23 March 2009
